Sizing a feed pellet machine for your daily output

Nine models cover 100 kg/h to 3,000 kg/h. Output alone will not tell you which one to buy. The material and the working hours matter as much.

The press-roller series runs from a 4 kW machine producing 100 to 150 kg/h up to a 75 kW machine producing 2,000 to 3,000 kg/h. Nine models is a lot of choice, and the output column is only the first thing to look at.

Work back from the week, not the hour

Decide how many tonnes of feed you need in a week, then divide by the hours you can realistically run the machine. A farm that can only run the mill for three hours in the evening needs far more capacity than the weekly tonnage suggests. A feed producer running two shifts needs less than the headline figure implies.

Leave margin. A mill running flat out for its whole available window has no room for a breakdown, a wet batch or a bigger order.

Motor speed tells you something

The smaller models (200 series) use 4-pole motors at 1,450 rpm. From the 210 upwards the series moves to 6-pole motors at 970 rpm. Lower speed with a larger machine generally means steadier running under load and less heat in the die, which matters when the mill runs for hours rather than minutes.

Material decides the die, not the model

Pelleting behaviour depends on what goes in. Ground maize, wheat bran, alfalfa meal and mixed rations all press differently. Moisture in the region of 12 to 14 percent is where most feed mixtures pellet cleanly. Too dry and the pellets crumble and the die heats; too wet and they soften and block.

Tell us the mix and the pellet diameter you need, and the die specification is quoted with the machine. Fitting the wrong die to the right machine wastes both.

Wear parts are the running cost

The rollers and the die are the wear parts. The inclined press-roller design used across the series seals better than a flat roller and spreads pressure more evenly over the die face, which is what makes the interval between replacements longer. Abrasive material shortens it again, so if you are pelleting anything with a high mineral or sand content, say so before we quote and we will include spares.

  • 210 to 280 (11–15 kW, 300–700 kg/h) — larger farm or a small feed business.
  • 300 to 350 (22 kW, 800–1,200 kg/h) — steady commercial production.
  • 400 to 500 (45–75 kW, 1,500–3,000 kg/h) — feed mills and contract producers.

Machine weights run from 110 kg to 1,470 kg, so foundations and floor space are worth checking at the same time.
